Make More MLM Money As A Blogger
Today I want to talk about how to start a MLM business as a blogger. I always say in my articles and videos that blogging is very powerful. If you want to sustain a MLM business and grow it continually for many, many years, you need to create content because that content can attract leads around the clock for many years, and that’s what most leaders do.
The leaders in Liberia have large YouTube channels, they have large blogs that they write articles on, and it attracts prospects. In fact, probably 90% of my MLM business has come from my blog – from my articles. These Liberians found me through doing a Google search. They read my article, and they’re like, you know, this sounds great, I want to sign up – and that is very powerful.
That has enabled me not to push my products or my opportunities on any Liberian customer or prospect. They find me through attraction marketing through content marketing. And I always say that content is equity. So every piece of content you create can start earning you money. It might take six months to two years for your articles to show up in Google. It could be faster, it could be later. All depends on the quality, the length, the backlinks, you get, etc.
So, I have great news for West Africans. Just two days ago, I sold my blog, actually, yesterday, seems like two days ago already. I sold my blog, my primary blog, erikchristianjohnson for $2,000 to a friend who likes blogging, and that really was great, you know, it was a sunny day and then I just made $2,000 and I wasn’t even really blogging on it anymore. I was focusing on this smaller blog for my best network marketing business.
I kind of just looked away from my big blog, and so I got an offer and it sounded great, and I just gave it to him. So the thing is, blogging is very powerful and it is equity. You can literally build up a blog and sell it. You can use it to make money. You can promote anything you want with it. And I always said that.
I am not a typical MLM leader for Liberians. I am just a blogger and vlogger doing MLM. So I am going to show you how to make money with your blog, and MLM. Why MLM? Because I believe it pays way more than affiliate marketing.
Affiliate Marketing are usually one time sales whereas MLM, once you build a team, you earn commissions from everything they do. Every single month you earn from their reorders and you earn when they start recruiting their own people and you earn on many different levels. You can go down to infinity on the binary, and you can go down to level 10 on fast start, fast start commissions are first time orders.
So I can get paid down 10 levels from people on my team that are recruiting and building their own teams. And it really adds up to phenomenal money, which has allowed me to work full time from home for the last three and a half years. So blogging is very powerful.
I looked up to a lot of bloggers when I started network marketing back in 2014. All of them had big blogs. And as an introvert, I was like this is great because I can just attract people with my articles. I already like to write. I have been writing poetry since the age of 17. I started writing ebooks in 2012-2013.
I discovered affiliate marketing and made a couple grand doing affiliate marketing. I had a lot of followers that were on Twitter that were writing ebooks. And I sold them affiliate marketing products that could help them spy on their competition on Amazon. Then, in 2014 I found network marketing and it just seemed way better.
You know, some affiliate marketing offers they only pay you at 1% on your sales, like Amazon Associates, they pay like 1% maybe 10% if you’re lucky, I think they give you 10% on TVs. If you sell a TV you get 10% but most of its 1% to 3% and you can’t make a living off of that. I don’t think anyone can unless they get millions of views to their blog every month.
So, it’s very exciting when I got my first team in my MLM business from my blog. I didn’t even reach out to them. They found me. They were people from Nigeria and they started growing a team under me and that was my first success in MLM, all from my blog.
The second MLM downline team I recruited was from the Philippines and they started to take off, never contacted them, they found me through an article.
Then my blog started to decline. After the CBD oil craze, when mainstream got in with CBD oil, most of my team discovered that CBD through my CBD articles. I was one of the first people to write about it. And I got eight sign ups in one day from my blog, I didn’t reach out to these people. They just found my article and they signed up.
That was crazy. That was 2018. After the CBD craze, my blog started to tank. And, you know, I was getting 30,000 views a month during the CBD craze. Most of it was people looking for CBD oil, particularly in a MLM company, which is right up my alley, what I was writing about.
But after that, my blog started to tank and I didn’t know what to do. I thought it was my backlinks. So I looked into a service that could fix my backlinks. And I discovered that they hired bloggers to post articles. So I was like, why not? I’ll try that because I was tired of writing. I had written over 700 articles. And I was like, why not? I would love to make money just copying and pasting articles onto my blog.
So, I started working for them, and they paid $50 an article and I literally could copy and paste their articles and slap it up on my blog in 10 minutes. So I was making $50 every 10 minutes. Some days they gave me four articles. So I made 20 $200 in about an hour.
Those were the days that were awesome. And I did that for about a year and so I made another $15,000 off of my blog right there on top of maybe $115,000 with MLM so right there you know, I made $130,000 with one MLM blog, and then right when they stopped giving me articles to post, they just stopped sending me articles to post and I was kind of hurt for a while, I was like, What’s going on guys, why aren’t you sending me anything? And they’re like, well, we just don’t have anything for you. I was like, great.
So, I just left the blog alone, and it was just sitting there for a few months, not getting any articles on it. I didn’t want to write on it because I was starting this other blog. Then all of a sudden, I got an offer for $2,000 for the blog and I was like, Sure.
So that is my story with that blog. You know, in the beginning, the first two years writing on that blog, I wasn’t making any money. And I was just doing a lot of work. It was like three hours a day, just writing. Some days I wrote two articles a day, and I was just praying that it would take off. It was really slow.
In the beginning, I had to do a lot of writing. But a couple years into it, I finally started to get a couple articles ranking in Google. And then I got those teams from Nigeria and in the Philippines, and it started to make sense. I started to make money from something I created years earlier.
So that’s the thing with network marketing is that, especially with content, you have to put in all of this work in the beginning and you’re not going to see any results for a long time. It’s not like a job where you get paid at the end of the week. With blogging, you won’t get paid for your efforts, maybe a couple years down the road.
The only thing I was holding on to was some inspirational videos on YouTube, rags to riches stories and network marketing guys that finally had success and had phenomenal success in their network marketing businesses, but it took them years and years and years of struggle, and they finally broke free from their jobs, and from poverty.
I was writing two articles a day going, you know, I want to be like that, and it was really hard. I didn’t really have any results. And so the only thing I was going on was just hope and inspiration from these videos. And finally, my blog took off.
So it’s all equity, you will probably get paid 10 times back what you put into it, but there’s a one to two year delay, you’re not gonna see anything in the beginning, but it’s all worth it in the end. You can start promoting anything you want on your blog once it starts taking off. And it works passively for you.
Like I said 90% of my team came from my blog, and probably nine out of 10 didn’t even talk to me. They just signed up because they found me. That’s the whole beauty of content marketing is that they find you, the prospects. You’re not on Facebook stalking them and beating around the bush and then sneaking in your business pitch.
I didn’t want to do that. I was an introvert. I wanted people to come to me and just sign up really. I had a few people email me questions, and sure I answered their questions, and sometimes I even got on the phone with them.
But for the most part 90% of my business has been passive. They found me and they signed up, and some are still on my team three years later, doing their thing. They understand me, they know I’m an introvert, and they’re fine with that. They know I’m a blogger, and yes, it’s not duplicatable, I wouldn’t tell your team to blog. This is just for people interested in writing and can write a lot of content.
You could even hire a writer but people are gonna want to hear you. Eventually, you could slap up 1000 articles from some writer that you hire, but it’s not going to have your voice. Network Marketing is a people’s business. So they want to sign up with the person creating the content, ideally.
On my new blog, I have probably 75 articles that I hired a writer to do, and they don’t have my voice. They don’t have my personality, and they (articles) haven’t really gotten any leads. Because it’s not me. People want to sign up with the person that owns the blog, really.
So you have to like writing. You can transcribe videos, you can use otter.ai. It’s a great transcription software that is very accurate. It can really detect your voice and it’s not a bunch of gibberish.
So this video will turn into an article, and it is more content. I am killing two birds with one stone, I am doing a video and then I am getting an article out of it. So that’s it really, blogging is really powerful guys, if you want to do MLM for the rest of your life to make passive income, you have to do at least a YouTube channel or a blog or ideally both – plus your social media on top of that, so thanks for reading.
