Network Marketing Training Tips For Traditional Business Owners in MLM

So with this lockdown, I’ve been seeing more traditional brick and mortar business owners joining my network marketing business and I have a couple pointers if you are a traditional brick and mortar business owner in network marketing.

You know this lockdown has just changed the whole landscape of businesses and most people are working from home or they’re receiving an unemployment check. Either way, it looks pretty dire. But you know, since I worked from home and have been for the last three years, this lockdown has been pretty easy as far as a transition goes. 

So I want to talk about the benefits of network marketing and how it differs from that of a traditional brick and mortar business. So before network marketing, I was always employed. I always had a boss. I’ve probably had over 100 bosses in my life, and 90% of them always treated me less than – they always treated me like just a worker – just an employee. And there are a couple exceptions to that rule. And those people who were my boss, they empowered me, they treated me equal, and that made a huge difference in my performance. 

Network Marketing is about being selfless. And you actually want to help your new reps more than you would help, say, your employees in your business. Now, there are some businesses out there that really empower their employees, but it’s still very rare. 

And so one of the pointers I have for you, if you’re an owner of a brick and mortar is that when you get a new rep in your network marketing business, you should treat them as a co-owner in your business, because it’s a team effort, in fact, most of your money will come from your reps, not you. 

So you have to with all of your power and energy, you have to get them to succeed. Now, don’t pressure them. There’s going to be a lot of people that don’t do anything with this business, you have to understand that. And the longer you’re in network marketing, the more you can discern, who will make it to the finish line, so to speak.

But then again, you’re gonna have people that talk big that do nothing. And then you’re gonna have people that don’t even talk to you when they join. But then a year or two later, they take off with their business, so you can’t prejudge people either. It’s a very tricky thing, but you know, the longer you stay in network marketing, the longer you can tell who you know, who you should work with. Who you should work with are the people that are taking action. They’re taking guidance. 

So when they sign up, you should give them some techniques on how they can start growing your business right away. You know, you don’t just say congratulations now good luck. What you say is, I’m so glad you joined my team. We’re growing fast and we love to have you. Here are some techniques, practical techniques you can use to build your business. And that means generating leads, it means giving them a system to follow. 

You could give them some facebook scripts because most people are on Facebook. They could start with Facebook, then they could do paid advertising. Then you can show them how to set up a YouTube channel. Because all the leaders in network marketing have a large YouTube channel. Most of them have a large blog. Blogging is difficult, it’s a two to five year plan. It takes hundreds of articles to get going. So I wouldn’t recommend that to all of your reps. But if they’re like, Yeah, I love writing, I’m already a blogger, then great. 

You want to basically highlight their strengths. So find out what they would like to do. If they’re, if they’re good at videos, have them do videos, if they’re good at writing, have them blog, but they should all do Facebook, they should all do paid advertising. If they’re a traditional brick and mortar business owner, they’re not afraid of spending money, because they’re spending thousands of dollars every single month on keeping their business going. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that they have to build their network marketing business with time and money. Those are the only two currencies in building a home business. 

And if you have a lot of contacts already when you sign up with a network marketer getting business will be an easier road to success. Unlike traditional businesses that are slowly declining. Network Marketing thrives during recessions, pandemics, emergencies, and this is a historical time to be at home to start a home business because unemployment is not going to satisfy that many people. They’re getting restless sitting at home, many are looking to the internet to find extra income, extra ways to earn an income from home. And network marketing has been here all along, people just haven’t looked at it. But it’s the most powerful business model you can do on the internet.

And I’m telling you that either you contact people you already know, use social media, use a YouTube channel or a blog. But you’re also going to have to do paid advertising if you don’t have a lot of contacts. 

The people who make it in network marketing show their websites to the most people. Whoever shows their websites to the most targeted people, not just random people, people that are looking for business opportunities, the person who shares their website to the most targeted audience will win over a consistent period of time.

So you have to do this consistently. You have to always be building your organization and treating each person as a co owner when they sign up with you. Unlike traditional businesses, where you kind of feel like you’re just an hourly worker in network marketing, your reps, your new reps are like gods, they’re like, little mini bosses, okay? And they can grow up to be making, you know, a million dollars a month in network marketing. That’s pretty much what the top leaders make in this business is a million dollars a month. 

How they do that is they built an organization of 5,000 to 20,000 people, and they get a little commission from all of those people every single month, and that is the best passive income you will ever taste- by getting that monthly check from everyone who reorders products. You might have forgotten about a lot of the people in the organization and they’re still ordering. They’re still recruiting, plug them into systems and give them your number one lead generation technique to get them generating leads right away. 

They should be doing both cold market marketing and warm market marketing. They should be talking to friends and family. But if you don’t want to bug your friends and family, then you have to do what you have to do: paid advertising and content. Content is your long game. Paid advertising is your short game. You could literally start generating leads within a day by doing paid advertising. Also, if you spend money on paid advertising, it is a tax write off. If you do a home business from home, I think more than half the time. 

So for me, it’s a tax write off. I am not afraid to spend thousands of dollars on advertising for my business. Even though I’ve been in for six years. I’m not sitting back and just resting on my laurels and relying on a team to help me make money. I am constantly recruiting at least four people a month, ideally 15 to 20 people a month and 80% of your team will do nothing basically even if you give them everything they need. They will still not do anything.

20% of your team will produce 80% of your income. The only thing you can do is keep recruiting. Keep schucking those oysters until you find a pearl. You might have to schuck hundreds of oysters to find that right pearl. But it only takes two or three leaders that you recruit, to make significant income. That is the secret of network marketing. Most people, they recruit, you know, five to 10 people and half of those people quit and they get discouraged, and then they quit. That’s why the failure rate is so high. 

But the leaders understand you have to keep recruiting. You have to keep renewing your team, because a lot of people are going to quit, but you only need two or three leaders that stay with you for the next five to 10 years for you to make significant income. It’s a paradox guys, network marketing operates differently than a traditional business. Once you understand that, you can go very far, but you’re going to have a lot of people quit. 

But you’re going to also meet a lot of wonderful people that will stay with you. And you can build a very solid organization. But don’t waste a lot of energy on people that don’t do anything. Give them some tools to get started. If they need more info they can reach out to you. But don’t just keep emailing them once a week, every week for two months if they’re not doing one single thing. Give them a task. Give them a simple task and see if they do it. If they don’t do it, don’t give them another task. Let them come to you. Work with the people who are working, not the people that are just talking big and then disappear. That happens a lot. 

So it’s a people’s business. The more you help your people succeed, the more you will succeed. It’s a selfless profession. It’s not like traditional businesses where you’re just nice to your workers, because they’re just hourly. In network marketing, your new reps are like gods, and you want to help them no matter what, help them succeed before yourself, because that is where 90% of the income comes from, is from your organization that you build. You want duplication. You want your team to start recruiting their own people. You can recruit 100 to 200 people, that’s fine. But out of that 200 people, you should get a few leaders that are building and recruiting themselves. That’s where the passive income comes from.
