Network Marketing vs Affiliate Marketing Now
So I want to talk about how I made more money in network marketing rather than affiliate marketing. So about a decade ago I started with Clickbank in Libreville. Click bank is an affiliate marketing marketplace where you can choose from thousands of different affiliate marketing products.
Now, just in a nutshell, affiliate marketing is basically you become a promoter and you promote other people’s products and you get compensated for it when you get a sale.
Network marketing is almost the same thing but you build a network of people under you all doing the same thing promoting a product in Oyem, Moanda, or Franceville. And you get a little bit of commission from every person and for me, network marketing is just more profitable and I will explain why.
So 2013, I joined Clickbank and I started to promote the products that they offered. I mainly used my Twitter account and back then I had about 80,000 followers. None of them were close friends, they didn’t really know me, and I just kind of tweeted my links to my Clickbank products.
Now, I tried many different products and I didn’t sell any products until I found one that was in alignment with my followers on Twitter. And what I mean by alignment is that most of my followers on Twitter were writers, they are ebook writers, and I tried promoting several products that did not help them improve their sales, their ebook sales.
I got in alignment when I finally found a product on Clickbank that could help ebook writers. That’s what I mean by alignment. So when I started tweeting about this new product that spied on their competition of ebook writers it started to sell. One summer I made $2,000 with Clickbank. I’ve tried promoting other products since then and I got nothing.
So if you want to promote anything, I think you have to get in alignment with the product that has to be in alignment with your audience, or you can do paid advertising. But even with paid advertising these days, you kind of have to represent the product. It is very hard to just sell a product using Pay Per Click ads in Libreville Gabon, you kind of have to interject your authority, your trust, and so people that do sell successfully, affiliate marketing products, have an audience and the product goes in alignment.
So there are people that have big YouTube channels, they have big blogs, and all they do is they find a product that they want to promote to their Gabon audience. It is already an established audience. And back to the E-book writers, I already had an established audience because I wrote an Ebook myself.
So when I found this Clickbank product that helped Kindle authors spy on their competition, and help them rank better, it started to sell like hotcakes because I finally tapped into a product that my audience wanted. So that was it.
The first thing that really took off for me with affiliate marketing for me you know, there weren’t many other products I could share with my Kindle writers and so the income diminished and I didn’t really make a residual income because most of those products On Clickbank, are one time sales. So there is no passive residual income coming in every single month.
So the following year 2014, I joined a network marketing company. And what I did was I tried getting an audience that would like that product. Back then it was a brain supplement. I was in a company called brain abundance, they’re no longer around. But I tried using my blog to promote the product.
I wrote about the product several times, dozens of articles and is really a challenge to do, because it’s only one product and it only had like 14 ingredients. So you can only write about 14 ingredients, so many ways, and so I didn’t really make any money that way.
But what happened was, eventually I started to write about other network marketing companies and I started to do List reviews of network marketing companies, or you know the benefits of joining network marketing, but most people that are interested in network marketing want to know two things: Who is the best company? And who pays the most? All right.
So once I figured out that formula, I started to write blog articles about network marketing companies, I would review network marketing companies and I would review compensation plans of companies.
Then I spun off of that and started to write about automating MLM companies, because I was in a company that had a built in sales funnel, they already had an autoresponder, they already had the website set up for us, all we had to do is drive traffic to our landing pages, and the company would email our leads and that is when network marketing for me took off.
But here’s the best part is that I’m an introvert and I’m an internet marketer, and I know that network marketing is typically for extroverts that can build a big network of people – that’s where the money comes from. But I was like, you know what, let’s try to promote network marketing like affiliate marketing.
So all I did was I just generated lots of leads, and I let the company email my leads, and I started to get signups. The beautiful thing is, is that in network marketing, you get paid down many different levels.
Affiliate Marketing, you might get paid down three levels. You know, if you get someone in affiliate marketing and then they promote the products, you can get paid on that person. Then if someone gets going on the third level, you can get paid on that, but it’s very rare.
Whereas network marketing, you get paid down 10 – 20 – 40 to infinite levels, and so it really adds up when you start building a team. I wasn’t even really that good at talking to people or anything. I just started generating massive leads and I started getting signups. Then, since I recruited so many people, because I generated so many leads, I just started to form a team, a network.
So I quickly passed the profit, the income that I made in affiliate marketing in a couple months, once I started getting people on my team in network marketing, and they started recruiting people, and I got a commission on everything.
Plus there was a consumable product in network marketing. So they have to reorder every single month. Whereas affiliate marketing, it’s usually a digital product you only need one time.
So passive income is a lot harder to come by in affiliate marketing if you don’t know what you’re doing. Network marketing for me, I quickly benefited from it, because I treated it like affiliate marketing. But I got paid a passive residual income a lot easier because people were consuming this product in network marketing. Every time they reordered I would get passive income.
So I quickly made up my mind, you know, I was like, I am done with affiliate marketing. I love network marketing, because I get paid on hundreds of people down many, many levels in my organization. Plus, I am an introvert. All I did was I learned how to create content, because content is still King on the internet.
Content could be a long post on Facebook, it could be Instagram, whatever you create on social media, or YouTube or a blog that stays up forever. And you can get leads from that for many, many years to come. So I just create content.
I kind of still treat my network marketing like affiliate marketing, meaning I just get massive traffic to my landing pages, and I’m still in a company that emails my leads for me, the sales funnel is already set up.
I love it because people have to reorder. Plus I have people on my team that are building their own teams. So I get a little commission from everyone and you don’t get that in affiliate marketing. There is no big team building overnight around the world usually in affiliate marketing. It is a product that people buy one time and then they are gone.
Network Marketing, it’s a product that they consume every month, and then you can literally form friendships with people on your team that can last for the rest of your life.
So for me, network marketing is just more of a life-fulfilling business model because you form these long relationships, long term relationships. So that is the difference for me. That is my experience on the internet, you might have a totally different experience.
There are successful affiliate marketers out there that make seven to eight figures a year. No problem. But it all takes traffic guys. Whether it’s affiliate marketing or network marketing, you still need tons of traffic every single day, going to your offers.
But you also have to instill trust and likeability and you have to position yourself as the authority on that product or business because you want people to join you and they’re not going to join you if they don’t really trust where you are going to take them.
I see it all the time on YouTube, I follow people that I trust, I find the number one person in that subject or a couple, you know, the top five and I watch everything they do. And it could be health, it could be spiritual, it could be diet, it can be whatever. But, you know, once I watch a few videos from a person that’s a leader in that industry, I really feel like I know them.
When I started network marketing in 2014 I watched Ray Higdon on YouTube, Todd Falcone, and after about 10 videos, I really felt like I knew them. You know, if I saw one of them in person right now, I’d be like, Hey, you know, how’s it going? And they’d be like, I don’t know you, and it’s just because video really establishes trust and you really get a sense of who you’re watching and listening to.
So, definitely do YouTube if you want to make money online. It’s free. You know, it just takes a little bit of time. You know, this video is like 13 minutes. I’m Just walking up to the mailbox. So really creating content is pretty easy once you get the hang of it and, you know, jot down some titles and in the morning, look at your titles and choose one that sticks out for you.
You don’t have to know everything about network marketing or anything just talk about your experience, your life, your journey, and then eventually people will start to join your journey as well. It’s as simple as that guys, and then eventually you’ll start to add in a little bit more about your business, the more you learn about it, so I would definitely take notes and study it just like any other profession.
It’s not a one trick pony. There is no secret formula on how to make money online. A lot of people come and go because they think it’s gonna take off in three months. They think they’re gonna get a lot of money in three months and all these leaders on youtube have been doing it for over 10 years, I mean, there’s no shortcuts.
So if you want to make money online, just stick with it, and do something every day, some kind of content every single day and it will have a compounding effect. Then pretty soon, you’ll start to get people following you and they will like it and they will comment under videos, and then you know that you’re engaging with an audience. That’s pretty much the factor. That’s when you know when you’re on the right path is when you start getting comments and likes.
Just stay the course once that happens, but it doesn’t happen in the first year. I mean, creating content sucks for almost everyone who starts YouTube and blogging, it takes time. So there are no shortcuts. You have to just do it every single day and eventually you will get a tribe of people that love you and appreciate you. They will buy something when you recommend it because they trust you. So that is my comparison between affiliate marketing and network marketing for MLMers in Gabon Central Africa for 2024.
